Causeway Amador’s Blue Martini lounge situated at the Plaza Figali Convention Center was remodelled into your classic Cirque du Soleil stage. There were dazzling lights, enormous speakers, smoke, fireworks and daring fire-show performers.

A decor suited for the most energetic and active Panamanians, Gel Abril added to the ambiance with driving rhythms, and minimal tech house. Everyone got on board of the Abril express train and quickly fastened their seat belts.

Armed with a few CDJ-1000′s and a standard mixer, Gel proved that great djing and mixing does not require a plethora of fancy gear. His passion for entertaining was apparent as he conducted his passengers on a journey filled with big beats, ethereal sounds and that constant minimal tech house rhythm: ”chaka chak chak – All aboard the runaway train!”.

Off the rails it went as Gel Abril dug deeper as the sunset rose and sexy Panamanian she males added life and glitter to the party dancing along side the DJ. Stocked with a mini fridge of Red Bulls, Abril would knock one back as if they were going out of style. Every time the Dj guzzled down bottle of those blue and red suckers, you knew it was time to brace yourself and expect the G forces to kick in – this train had no breaks!

Decked with a big screen and creative visuals made the event even more grandiose. The production value was at its highest. At 15$ for a ticket and 35$ for VIP, this event was well priced considering the decor, ambiance and thunderous sound system.

Despite the concert taking place outdoors, the humidity seemed to bother only a few as most people were dressed in white.

All in all, Gel Abril, delivered a solid performance and is most certainly welcome to perform in Panama City, Panama at anytime. Perhaps next time, we can remain on his train until he breaks the sound barrier! Everyone say ” SONIC BOOM”!
