Many people shy away from it but I don’t. It may be the Capricorn in me, but I tend to enjoy stability whereby I can channel my energy into achieving one thing. With the task of making a remix for Andrey Potyomkin’s I’m With You, I wanted to make sure to use as much of the audio stems as possible while creating an entirely new feel for this track. As a bassist, I started with a grooving bassline and lush chords. I also wanted to make use of the entire stereo field and added additional tracks to add more depth to the framework. In short, the melodic piano lines are the star while other elements are purely supportive.

I quite enjoy listening to 80′s and 90′s music. Although I was more into alternative and jazz music, I had a fondness for grooving dance music of the day. I remember having to wait until Friday nights to get the “latest” in dance coming out of the U.K. and other European countries. Bass Bumpers were a great group with a unique sound. Unfortunately, I think many songs or bands, lack a sound. Perhaps more than ever, producers try to sound like other producers in the hopes of more exposure… During the 90′s there was no such template for a hit dance song… If there was, the criteria were diverse and many bands/producers found success. At times, the oddest sounding tracks sparked enough interest to garner popularity. Case in point was SNAP with THE POWER.

On the video side, many dance music groups shot fantastic videos where concepts often dictated the production. These high production videos had interesting imagery, dance moves and ideology- Something lacking in today’s music industry.

My track Got Music pays homage to that “sound”. Included in your free download are 2 remixes from Dutch Producer and DJ Ramiro Bernabela.

Who says we aren’t influenced by what we see and hear. The backbone of this darkish, old school house sound track stems from the rise in detective tv shows. I’ll admit, I was once into these types of thriller-crime-tv shows and so, I decided to write a track about it.
Most would think the story paints  a dark picture of what is being told, however nothing can be further from the truth. Parole portrays the sexual relationship between two consenting adults. Have a listen and let me know!
